After months of speculation, the Richmond Tigers and fans alike can breath a sigh of relief. Their midfield star Dusty Martin has reportedly signed a 7 year extension with the club.
Richmond were left with baited breath, seeing if Dustin Martin would choose to sign with the Kangaroos. North Melbourne reportedly offered martin a $10.5 million, 7 year contract. This was declined, with the 26 year old choosing to return to the Tigers. While many Kangaroos fans were optimistic, the club itself were expecting the All-Australian to re-sign. For the Kangaroos, they wait on a reply from GWS midfield Josh Kelly, another Brownlow favourite. North Melbourne have offered Kelly a 9 year, $10 million contract, but it is expected that Kelly will remain with the Giants.
This news will be a refreshment for the Tigers on the eve of a finals campaign. The Tigers were hoping that in keeping Martin, they could continue to develop the young team for further finals success.
The decision is expected to be made on Channel 9’s The Footy Show. Reports suggest that the Tigers have allowed the announcement to be made by Martin and his management team.
