The Los Angeles Clippers have started to gauge interests from teams around the league for All-NBA centre Deandre Jordan. It is believed that the Clippers would be looking for picks in return.
One of the current rumours is that the Clippers would send Jordan to the Suns in exchange for the 4th pick and Tyson Chandler. The Clippers currently have no picks in the draft and could face losing both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin in free agency.
While Jordan is one of the league’s best defensive players, his scoring is a weakness, only recording 12.7 per game last season. For a team’s best player, the Clippers would want more a more output of points.
Clippers could be facing rebuild mode, breaking up their core that while showed promise, never lived up to expectations. In the past 2 seasons, the Clippers have been eliminated in the first world, losing to the Blazers in 2016 and the Jazz in 2017. For many, the Clippers experiment has been considered a failure.
If this trade were to happen, it would be the beginning of a rebuild. This would most likely be on the back of Clippers new advisor Jerry West, who just finished his stint with the Golden State Warriors.
