The Oklahoma City Thunder and Russel Westbrook are close to finalising an extension deal. The deal is expected to be a 3 year, $85 million.
After Kevin Durant left the Thunder to play for the Warriors, Westbrook now remains as the team’s superstar. Rumours have been circulating in the off-season as to whether Westbrook would remain with the Thunder or leave the team at the end of next season, when he was due to be a free agent.
With the possibility of Westbrook leaving, many expected the Thunder to trade the All-Star a start a rebuilding process. However, with Westbrook not leaving, the Thunder now have a chance to continue their dominance.
Without fellow superstar and former MVP Kevin Durant, it gives Russel Westbrook the opportunity to push for the NBA’s most highest accolade; the NBA MVP.
